In general, I'd recommend having Skill Roll, Quickturn, Coil, and Climb Efficiency unlocked as well as Magrope before even attempting any of these. *Make sure you have made it past the story mission "Benefactor" (mission 6) before you try any of these because this mission unlocks the ability to purchase a lot of the more useful skills and gives you the Magrope Pull-up skill, which you will need for some of the dashes. This will help you make faster turns and get on target quicker. *Change your sensitivity in your Options menu (Start-Options-Controls-Controller Sensitivity) to as high as you can stand. I only used this a few times, and it probably wasn't 100% necessary.
This can also help you pick up a little speed, but "bunny hopping" by chaining these together is not usually necessary and is more difficult to control in my opinion. *Use then in quick succession to coil jump over short walls and obstacles. Use it at the beginning of each run and any time you jump, fall, or turn in a way that causes you to lose speed. I found that they got easier in the later areas, so if you are struggling on the ones in the beginning, don't worry about them getting more difficult. There are 22 dashes in the main game, but all of them will not be available until you progress the story, so if you run out of dashes, just continue with main story missions until more unlock.
